Historical information about the object

Architectural monument of the XIV century. Built on public funds. A valuable icon has been preserved in the church – Our Lady of Popeli. During the visit of Pope John Paul II to Ukraine and his visit to the city of Lviv in June 2001, it was presented to him by Ukrainian believers. Prior to that, the icon was transferred to the Lviv Art Association “Dzyga” for restoration. Copies of this icon are kept in Lviv and in the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin in the village of Popeli.
