The Carpathian Ratochyn oil and gas well (since 1940 № 1100) is the first of the drilled deep wells in Boryslav, the so-called Canadian method, known by the oil firm Simeon Bergheim and William Henry McGarvey. . It was drilled from June 1893 with the help of a mechanical (steam) drive with the use of steel casings, rods and cables – the so-called. “Canadian” method of dry impact drilling. In August 1893, from a depth of about 200 m, several barrels of oil were extracted per day, which was transported by pipeline to the railway in Boryslav. Subsequently, this well was deepened to 1420 m and 220 tons of oil were extracted per day.
